Fiberglass Batts
The most affordable and the most commonly used type of wall insulation. A good option for both new construction and remodel projects — effective, and it won’t break the bank.
Fiberglass BIBS
Loose fill fiberglass we blow in tight behind netting, in open stud walls before the drywall goes up. A slightly bigger investment than batts, still affordable, and it fills around wires and pipes better. For new construction and remodels with the studs exposed.
Blow-In Attic Insulation
Built up over the attic floor to the depth Eastern Washington actually needs. This is where most houses lose most of their heat, and it’s the cheapest R-value you will ever buy.

What is R-value?
Insulation is rated in R-value per inch of thickness. It tells you how well that material stops heat leaving or entering your home. It varies with the type, the thickness and the density — and generally a higher R-value means better climate control and a cheaper house to run.
How often should attic insulation be replaced?
Every 10 to 15 years, as insulation gets dirty, wet and inefficient. It should be replaced immediately if it has been exposed to moisture — wet insulation leads to mold, so it is best to deal with the problem before mold forms.
What R-values are recommended in my area?
In Eastern Washington and North Idaho we recommend R-21 for walls, R-60 in your attic and R-38 in the floor over a crawl space. Most houses here built before about 2010 are well short of all three. On older houses where the attic can’t fit R-60, we insulate to R-49.
Do you insulate basements and crawl spaces?
Yes — attics, basements and crawl spaces, plus air sealing while we’re in there. A cold floor over an uninsulated crawl space is one of the most common complaints we get in Spokane.

- What sort of contamination we find, and whether it needs sanitising
- Disposal, and the trip if you’re more than about an hour out
