Is the floor the problem?
A cold floor over an uninsulated crawl space is one of the most common complaints we get in Spokane. If you walk across a room in socks in January and the floor bites back, the floor is where we start.
Signs it is worth a look
- The floors are cold in winter, even when the heat is on.
- The house was built before about 2010. Most houses here built before then are well short of what this area needs.
- You have never looked under the house, or you looked once and could not tell what was there.
Not sure? Call us. We will come out and look under the house, and tell you what we see.
What we put under the floor
We install fiberglass batts under the floor, over the crawl space, to R-38. Batts are the right tool when the framing is open, and under a floor it is open. We fit every batt around pipes, wiring and joist edges, with no gaps and no compressed corners. This is underfloor insulation done properly. The insulation under the floor sits tight against the floor above, not hanging loose.

Fiberglass batts under the floor, so the rooms above are not sitting on cold air.
This is the R-value we use for Eastern Washington and North Idaho, not a number picked to look good on a flyer.

How it goes
Free on-site look, in a day or two.
We get under the house ourselves and quote the actual job, not a guess over the phone.
We seal gaps and penetrations first,
before any insulation goes in.
We install the batts to R-38.
We clean up and take everything with us.
The crew that quotes the job is the crew that does it. Two or three of us, no subcontractors.
What we do not do
We would rather say it now than waste your afternoon. We do not do spray foam. We do not do duct work, and if you ask we will point you to someone who does it properly. We do not do asbestos or vermiculite, which needs a licensed abatement contractor. We will give you a name, and insulate once it is out. We work on houses, not commercial buildings, pole barns or metal buildings.
Attic or floor first?
For most existing homes the biggest win is the attic. If your attic insulation is old, thin or dirty, that is usually where the heat is leaving, and we blow it to R-60. The floor is the next job, and it is the one that fixes the cold feet. When we come out for the free look we check both and tell you which comes first for your house. Some houses need only one.
