Premium Blow-In Fiberglass Insulation
Blown fiberglass goes in loose and settles into the shape of whatever it’s filling — around wiring, over the tops of joists, into the awkward angles where a roof meets a wall. A batt has to be cut to fit and any gap you leave is a gap in the insulation. In an existing attic, blow-in insulation wins nearly every time.
We use it two ways. Over an attic floor, built up to R-60, which is what a house in Eastern Washington actually needs. And blown into open stud walls as Fiberglass BIBS at R-23, on new builds and remodels — packed tight enough that it won’t settle and leave a cold strip along the top in ten years’ time.
Blown-in attic insulation in Spokane
Many Spokane attics we look at have much less insulation than a house here needs. We blow in loose fiberglass until the attic reaches R-60, and we mark the depth so you can check it yourself. On older houses where the attic can’t fit R-60, we insulate to R-49. If the old insulation is clean and dry, we blow on top of it. If mice, smoke or water have been in it, we take it out first. We look before we quote, and the estimate is free.

Old insulation still up there?
If what’s in your attic has had rodents in it, been through smoke, or got wet, putting new insulation on top buries the problem. That job starts with taking the old material out.

Blow-in insulation, answered
Does blown insulation settle?
Loose fill in an attic settles a little, which is why we blow it over depth rather than to it. In a wall we blow it in tight enough that it can’t settle and leave a cold band at the top.
Can you blow over what’s there?
If it’s clean and dry, yes, and that’s the cheapest version of the job. If rodents, smoke or water have been in it, no — that has to come out first.
How messy is blow-in insulation?
Less than you’d think. The hose runs from the truck to the attic hatch, we cover the route, and we clean up behind ourselves before we go.
How long will it take?
An attic top-up is usually half a day. A full attic with removal first is a day. Walls depend on how many and what’s on the outside of them.
